During our 7 week sprint in the Tableland pilot program, we were able to develop, test and integrate Tableland powered smart contract meta-data into a novel Augmented Reality “handshake” methodology. This new “physical-to-digital” technique, will provide the foundation of our ability to deliver unique “Printed NFT”’s as well as personal “AR Gifts” (where a customer can create and embed a special message in a framed print that is only accessible by the recipient in our new Immersive Art Frame).

What We Accomplished

Overall, we were able to contribute to 3 key areas of development and integration:

1) DAO-Backed Easel Smart Contracts

2) Hidden Meta-data Watermarks

As you can see in the image, we are able to use hidden image watermark techniques to embed simple, low information size database lookup values (”0:1:1:1”). Because we use a slightly destructive image modification technique (discrete wavelet transforms), it is imperative that the total size of meta-data we wish to embed is small. By using just table row ID’s, this allows the impact to the final printed image to reflect as best as possible the original artist’s vision.

3) End-to-End Image Identification via Web-based AR Portal

Lastly, we integrate the watermark decoding with the core AR Frame platform pipeline - once we identify the image and decode the message, we can make an API call to Tableland SDK to get the full embedded details to show to the end user. This enables powerful new features such as “Printable NFT’s”, digitally “signed” limited edition prints, and even personalized multi-media gift message accessible through the AR Art Portal.
